Centralia, WA is located 20 miles South of Olympia. The city is home to about 16,000 residents, many of whom work locally and many who commute to the Olympia area. Originally named Centerville, Centralia took on its current name in 1891 to avoid confusion with another city of the same name in Washington.
Centralia is served by the Amtrak rail lines near Interstate 5, with regular departures to Portland, OR and California, as well as North to the Canadian border. The city offers a wide variety of parks and recreation, as well as a farmer’s market and Centralia College.
Centralia is well known for its shopping district, especially among antique adn factory outlet shoppers. The local McMenamin’s hotel and theater is also a draw for out-of-towners.
